All the sections of ESN Lithuania join their forces to make experience of exchange students in Lithuania unforgettable with the combination of a festival and a summer camp – Erasmus Student Camp, or, as you will call this from now on – ESCAPE.
All these days will be full of various activities: orienteering game, sports, art workshops, games, brain battle, live music bands, DJ and more. We all know that weather in Lithuania is unpredictable but even that will not be able to make a change on the mood because all of the equipment for the planned activities can be quickly adapted to weather conditions – sun or rain, everybody is provided with the space for having lots of fun.
Not convinced yet? All weekend long nobody has to think about getting to places, finding a bed to sleep or food to eat. Reserved buses go from biggest Lithuanian cities to the place of ESCAPE. There are no luxurious hotels but living conditions are respective with the rooms for various size of people groups so everyone gets their own bed and personal space. For your convenience, breakfast, lunch and dinner are also included.

On the weekend of 14th to 15th of November, the fourth international training Survival Kit vol.4 took place in Lithuania. This event was held in Vilnius, by ESN ISM. During this event we gathered more than 60 people, including participants, ESN Lithuania NB members and international trainers. In the course of two days we had two training tracks – one for newbies, one for advanced learners.
Newbies workshops was held by Kacper Olczyk and Lerio Cunha. In Kacper’s training course ESN newbies were learning about successful promotion of events and  what is the best way to master the art of a perfect promotion. Lerio was teaching  volunteers the art of public speech and how to learn to trust yourself and another person during teamwork workshops.
Advanced track was held by Carlos Guillermot and Piero Gentilini – they formed one amazing cooperation and led their course as a team. Another advanced workshop was held by Mikas Macijauskas.
Carlos’s and Piero’s training was focused on improving skills of time management in order to increase one’s working abilities and possibilities. Also, another workshop was held about motivation was based on self-motivation and teaching leaders to bring  motivation to sections in everyday ESN’ers life situations.
Mikas held a training about visual communication skills, simple rules of  logo or  banner creation and simply how to communicate with ESN world using just visual material.
Every day after training sessions teambuilding games were held. They helped to know more about yourself and your fellow ESN’ers. ESN Lithuania can proudly say, that during this weekend a lot of ESN’ers believed that things might not be as hard as they first seem to be and that learning together -from each other- is one of the best ways to learn something new and usefully integrate it into their lives.

On 25th-26th April ESN Lithuania newbies as well as advanced members enjoyed the sunny spring weather while participating in the national trainings called “Survival KIT Vol.3”. It was organized by the ESN KK and HR Committee and held in Kaunas kolegija/University of Applied Sciences.

We are glad to announce that productive and interactive workshop sessions were conducted by even four ESN international guests who shared their knowledge and experience on leadership, motivation, interculturalism, and creativity. We were excited to welcome IB-elect Communication Manager Gaffar Rampage (ESN Communication Committee, ESN The Netherlands) participating in the 2nd ESN Lithuania national event. He was a facilitator who gave a short theoretical presentation on communication, its means, purpose, and types. Having gone through that, ESN members had an opportunity to apply the theory into practice. Thus, the specific skills and knowledge were gained through the interactive activities.

Another facilitator Kenny Ho from ESN Ireland shared his experience of five years volunteering with the advanced level members. We held a discussion about self-development taking into consideration our success and failures, strengths and fears. Also, we tried to figure out how to motivate ourselves and others, how to avoid or solve various problems within the local as well as national levels. In addition to that, another workshop provided by Kenny was about job interviews and filling in CV. He engaged students in some discussions and activities that lead to a better understanding how to succeed in applying for a job.

Other two guests, Magda Jarmołowicz from ESN Poland and Thibault Pean from ESN France, were facilitators for the newbies. They dealt with the relevant issues like motivation, interculturalism, and creativity. Magda went deeper into the ESN as a non-profit association that provides plenty of opportunities and volunteering benefits. Also, members participating in her workshop analysed some situations and tried to find the means for enhancing motivation. Thibault emphasised significance of the topics about people differences and stereotypes of cultures. Engaging in creative activities, students made themselves sure once again that we should not judge a book by its cover. We should pay more attention to people’s characters and personalities and should not form an opinion about them from their sexual, religious, or political orientation.

Having worked a lot, students had fun responsibly at the “Responsible Party”. The members who took part in the trainings received a certificate and gained valuable experience which hopefully will be spread throughout the ESN Lithuania sections. The newbies and advanced members improved their knowledge on different topics and they were greatly empowered to seek for more.

For growing organization it is essential to build professional basis, which could be transferred from generation to generation. For every motivated volunteer there always comes time to become something bigger and better. That is the moment when some additional skilled help from aside is more than welcome. As a cause of that more than 50 ESNers have gathered together in Cluj-Napoca, Romania for the whole week, which has lasted from 14th to 21st of August. Eduk8 Training 4 Trainers (T4T) this time has invited to deepen knowledge in three different fields: intercultural learning, section empowerment, management and how to become an official ESN Eduk8 Trainer.

This time ESN Lithuania in the event was presented by National Research Coordinator Tomas Tamulevičius (ESN VMU), who already has experienced the power of Eduk8 while participating in their winter meeting last year. But it doesn’t make the new experience less valuable. He claims that “it was an amazing event, full of brilliant moments and fabulous emotions”. Our new ESN trainer says that this time it was more about building one strong team, where every single member of it can trust each other in no matter what situation.

While discussing the program of the event he also tells that after first days of team-building more time was given for gathering knowledge in non-formal education area. Practical advises how to create trainings, conduct them and to be good at it were shared between professional and future ESN Eduk8 trainers. Following days invited to realize theory. Tomas remembers that “it was a great challenge to give a training for other participants. At the same time it was useful experience since we all received constructive feedback, which allowed us to improve faster heading to the right direction. When the last day of the meeting came, there was a lot to discuss, evaluate and remember, but after all of that the most important moment came when we all were announced as officially approved ESN Eduk8 Trainers”.

Now fresh Eduk8 trainers are back home and probably already thinking about possible ways to realize gained skills. Tomas sends huge AČIŪ for all members of ESN Lithuania for this opportunity, giant THANK YOU for all the participants and organizers. And as a motivation for future ESN generations he adds: “for one more time I was convinced that ESN is one amazing family, which teaches you to see the best in every single person”. It’s always the right time to join us, isn’t it?

Last weekend, on the 6th of April National training of ESN Lithuania was held in Kaunas Univeristy of Applied Sciences with the help of ESN KK - ESN Lithuania section which voluntarily organized the event with the support of their international office.

One of ESN visions is to provide quality training for all ESN members. This time ESN Lithuania tried to fulfill that by organizing one day event. From early Saturday current president of JCI (Junior Chamber  International) Kaunas and coaching trainer Patrikas Pilybas started their workshop for cooperation strengthening and teamwork. Justina Pluktaitė from VGTU (Vilnius  Gediminas technical university) International Office provided all ESN members with ideas howto recruit new members for the network, develop new ways how to contribute better for them, how to integrate into ESN activities incoming and outgoing Lithuanian students. Representatives of ESN LT Alumni were telling about the history of ESN LT and later organized a game which managed to reveal different capabilities of participators. At the end of the day two workshops were held by ESN Athens past section president Stefanos Antypas – ESN Job or Fun. Tomas Tamulevičius has shared his Eduk8 experience during the workshop for Communication and Teamwork.

Even the official part of the event took only one day but therefore an additional program was organized – attendants of training were invited to visit the Museum of War, located in the very heart of Kaunas.

Later on reviews about the event have appeared. For example Stefanos Antypas was telling us that „after two and a half months spent in Lithuania, and after I’ve already proved everyone that I am a crazy Greek who under no circumstances cannot be taken seriously, the kindness of ESN Lithuania shows no boundaries, since they invite me for a second time to attend one more of their national meetings. The first one was nothing else than their National Platform and the second one was the ESN LT Survival Kit.

I arrived at Kauno Kolegija at 14:00 o’clock. Even though the training was going on from early morning, instead of finding a group of tired, hungry people, I was welcomed by smiling ESNrs who couldn’t wait to see the next presentation/workshop. My Lithuanian is not good, so I couldn’t understand what most of the presentations were about, but I could easily understand faces full of excitement, and laughs and jokes they were making all the time. So if this event was organized in order to strengthen the bonding between ESN sections in Lithuania, I think it got a ten out of ten.

Also I was happy to have participants in my workshop “ESN Job or Fun?, who with their motivated attitude and their fresh ideas managed to create four unique events in less than forty five minutes.

All the event was abound in positiveness and excitement. I am grateful that I got the chance to participate in this training and I am looking forward for the next ESN Lithuania event. I believe that they have a bright future in front of them. But then again, what does a crazy Greek know“.

ESN Lithuania wants to thank Modesta, Audre, all the ESN KK and Kaunas Univeristy of Applied Sciences International Office, Tomas and for others who helped to organize this event! Your effort and will always remain in the hearts of ESNers.

Only 3 days ago Eduk8 trainings were closed and participants headed back home. Luckily, this time ESN Lithuania had his own representative – Tomas Tamulevičius from ESN VMU, who agreed to share the moments of these days, which, according to him, were “one of the best weeks in my entire life”.

Eduk8 is an international training project aiming to develop members of ESN while improving their skills and competences by professional trainers. Winter 2013 training invited to choose from three different, but ESN related topics: section empowerment, intercultural learning and management. From 1st to 4th of February, 2013 a bunch of ESNers gathered together in Valencia, Spain to deeper explore these topics.

After Tomas promised to prepare a report about entire event, accomplished tasks and gained experience, which would serve for the future Human Resources Coordinators of ESN Lithuania, he remembered “all those precious moments, which will stay alive my entire life. These trainings united us all to one strong team, that it seemed that nothing is impossible for us. We were not representatives from different countries and sections – we were members of one family, which is called ESN”.

This event resulted not only as a huge motivation for the future challenges, but also as an unique opportunity to directly meet members of international ESN Committees, what made me think about joining one of them”.

Tomas also wanted to thank for all ESN network for the given opportunity to participate and experience on of the most beautiful weeks ever. Special thanks were expressed for ESN Lithuania, our NR Simona Patašiūtė and HRC Vydūnas Pakrijauskas for all the support and encouragement given.

Last weekend was really special to ESN KTU (Erasmus Student Network Kaunas University of Technology) team. Current members and freshman were going to spend their weekend together in homestead not very far away from Kaunas. The main reason of this weekend was to make our TEAM BUILDING.

Every semester ESN KTU awaits many new members different in age and specialties. A lot of them have not been acquainted before but one thing attracted them to ESN Organization – to help Erasmus students! In order to work for Erasmus we need to have a strong team which everyone of us can always trust in occurred serious problems. Therefore, team-building weekend was organized for strengthening relationships between ESN KTU members.

Day one started with personal trainings which were presented by KTU Career Center representative – Eglė Šliurpaitė. Many questions were discussed such as „How to compete with fear of public speaking“, „Why do we need challenges in our life? “, „How to do works in time without physical exhaustion?”. During the day ESN team was learning communication, time planning and working together skills in various practical activities.

The most remarkable and extraordinary exercise was a walk in silence. 20 minutes all people were going by the road without talking to each other at all. Of course there were many ways how to communicate without speaking – emotions, gestures, text on mobile phone and etc. but the silence test was passed – no one was talking.

Activities of responsibility also took place in training schedule. Students were learning how to lead people with their eyes closed tight and how to be leaded when you can’t see anything. The answer was CONFIDENCE in your friend. There were many temptations to leave the partner somewhere on road, mislead he/she but hopefully, no one was injured during this training and everyone happily reached home.

After all day works the evening part started when all ESN KTU team decided to relax and enjoy they time grilling sausages, chatting or simply resting. But the night wouldn’t be interesting without something unexpected happening. First time in ESN KTU history freshman were baptized in real members. They solemnly swore to ESN KTU president to love and respect Dovilė Žemaitytė, be obedient and do all works they are asked to do. All novices are full-fledged ESN KTU members now and are ready to work for Organization.

On the day two a lot of information was provided to members about ESN work. Some of it was known and some of it was new. Sandra Baltkojytė, Public Relations Officer of ESN Lithuania, presented ESN Organization and its activity in national and international levels. Members were acquainted with all positions of National and International Boards, International meetings, projects and etc. Sandra’s presentation truly inspired go working and changing Erasmus people life.

In the end of the weekend all team was exhausted but also was happy. New friendships came to ESN KTU and we are expecting that it will even strengthen the team in future projects organization and implementation.
